AC Repair in Sun Valley

Sun Valley at a glance

Sun Valley is a community of 21,178 people (2020) north of Reno, covering about 15 square miles along State Route 443.

What that means for your AC

Sun Valley includes many manufactured homes and older houses. Manufactured homes often have ducts under the floor and furnaces in a closet; torn or loose ducts below can blow conditioned air into the crawl space; see ductwork and airflow. Older furnaces in closets and hallways may share space with water heaters and storage; keeping that space clear and the door vented lets the furnace breathe and keeps combustion air safe.

Hillside wind

Homes on the slopes catch more of the region's wind, which blows dust and debris into outdoor units. Gravel driveways, unpaved lots and bare slopes add to the dust that reaches outdoor coils, so a gentle rinse with the power off every month or two in summer is worth the few minutes.

A young community

Sun Valley's median age was 34.9 at the 2020 census, and more than 40 percent of households had children. Busy families often forget filter changes, but in a dusty, windy valley a clean filter makes a real difference to both cooling and heating. Keeping a few filters on hand and changing them every month or two through the windy seasons can head off frozen coils in summer and overheating furnaces in winter; see AC maintenance.
